Lincoln Park ZooLights

The Daley Plaza ChristKindlMarket opened last Wednesday and Lincoln Park’s ZooLights begin tonight in about 45 minutes, I think the Holiday Season has really begun! Luckily my husband got much of our Christmas shopping done last weekend at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair so we have time to enjoy everything 🙂

New split two bedrooms for rent at the Parkshore $2,100 per month

If you want to come to live in the New Eastside, the parkshore has this cheapest two bedroom for rent $2,100 per month with parking included in the price. This is a split two bedroom unit with around 1,250 square feet, it has nice lake view in the unit, all new wood floor through out the unit. New appliances about a couple of years old.

Two bedroom on 51st floor rented at the 195 Harbor

So I have found a renter for the two bedroom on the 51st floor at the 195 N Harbor Dr. We have listed for rent on 10/9/10, with around 10 showings and the unit was not available until 11/24/10, we have found a tenant who is going to move in right before Dec, 2010.

This unit has opened up the second bedroom as a den with nice french doors. The view is spectacular with the lake, the city and the park views. All wood floor through out the unit makes a big difference too.

Parkshore has the best doormen, who not only open doors for you all the time, but also help you with groceries and kids. There is a on site grocery store which opens from 8am to 11pm, which has a deli with hot meat selections.

Parkshore has a nice size gym on the 56th floor with beautiful views to the lake and the city, a roof top pool and a private tennis court, two nice party rooms for you to use.

The elevator next to the new Lakeshore East Park is still broken!

I remember this elevator was broken about a couple of months ago, then we saw a sign on the elevator saying that it is currently broken and will be fixed soon. Now almost two months have passed and we did not see any change, the same little note is still on the elevator door. This elevator breaks down quite often, however, it used to get fixed pretty fast, I would say within a week or two, not sure why nobody is trying to fix it anymore. Also someone has mentioned that even it is fixed, she is not going to use it as it smelled so bad in it, I agree with her comment, not sure why it has such bad smell in it. The good thing is that we could use the elevator in the Shoreham building, which is covered and very clean, the only bad part is that there are two doors to enter before going in the elevator and one door after you come out, these doors are heavy so for people have strollers, they are very hard to manage.

Four two bedroom plus den sold in the last 6 months at the Parkshore

There are four two bedroom plus den units closed in the last 6 months at the 195 N Harbor Dr, the Parkshore. The price is ranging between $475K and $485K, they are all on the mid level to high floor. The inside is similar, some units has granite counter tops and some units have wood floor, some has a new vanity in the bathrooms, but none of the units have been totally configured. Our unit is similar to these units, we bought it in 2007 for $527K. So that means the price has dropped $52K in the last three years. However, if we take rent into consideration, we would need to pay $2,400 min a month to rent such a unit, if we use 36 months to calculate which is $86,400. So the difference is $35K, that is the amount we have saved in the last three years, not to mention about the tax deductible of the interest rates.

Also, we would not know how would our money hold in the stock market, I am sure it would be worse than the 10% decrease in the last three years. These are all the benefits of owning a house other than renting one. But I thought about one thing to buy now is there are so many choices, so we could have more choices.

One bedroom short sale on the high floor at the Parkshore – 195 N Harbor Dr.

I just noticed there is a one bedroom short sale on the top floor at the Parkshore – 195 N Harbor Dr. The listing price is $255K, it does not have many pictures for the unit, not so much description on the remarks either, so it is hard to tell if this has been remodeled. The listing agent is Natalia Ganzenko from Keller Williams Gold Coast Realtor.

Harbor Drive Street Renaming Ceremony/Parkshore Resident Honor

A street renaming ceremony was held honoring the late Board of Election Commissioner Theresa M. Petrone, wife of retired Judge Frank Petrone of unit 1002 of the Parkshore, 195 N Harbor Dr, on Thursday morning, October 7, 2010 at the intersection of Harbor Drive and Waterside Drive. Some Parkshore residents were instrumental in obtaining this honor for Mrs. Petrone. Mrs. Petrone had served on the Illinois State Board of Elections for almost twenty years, including terms as chairwoman and vice-chairwoman, before her appointment at the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners in 1997, a position she held until her death in 2006. Alderman Brendan Reilly, Mr. Petrone’s son-in-law Alderman James Balcer of the 11th Ward, a representative for Secretary of State Jessie White, a representative of the Bard of Elections, the Petrone family and a small group of the Parshore residents and neighbors attended the ceremony.

I showed a client a high floor three bedroom unit this weekend, this unit has open kitchen with granite counter tops, the half bathroom has been changed into an office, both bathrooms are redone beautifully with new tub and bamboo floor. Large two bedrooms on a very high floor at the Parkshore unit 5105 for rent

This unit features maple wood floor through out the unit, marble entry and on the kitchen floor. New paint about two years ago, nice built in closet in the guest bedroom, the guest bedroom has been opened up as a den with a nice french door, which is very easy to close.
